Tips For Spotting Sewage Leaks On Your Property

Freddie Kuhn

While the idea of sniffing around for sewage problems might not seem like the most thrilling of things to do, paying attention for signs of a sewage leak is very important. In fact, it is something that you should always be on the lookout for. Make sure that you are taking a moment to review the following tips for spotting a sewage leak so that you can have it fixed before you have a real mess on your hands.

Send Down The Cameras

If you suspect that there is indeed a leak in your sewage line, you are going to want to have a professional sewage repair company send a camera through the sewage lines. These are cameras help with leak detection because they can instantly see the condition of the inside of the pipes. They will know if there is sewage just sitting in the pipes or if there is a break somewhere alone the sewage line on your property.

Look For Soggy Ground

Unless your yard collects a lot of water and it has just rained within the last couple of hours, there is no reason as to why any section of your yard should be soggy. If you find a soggy section of your yard and it just so happens to be above the buried sewage line or septic tank, you might have a real problem on your hands.

Make sure that you are determining the perimeter of the soggy ground and mark it with small rocks or something that will serve as a visual for when the professional septic repair technicians arrive. This way, they will have a better understanding of where the break in the line might be.

Keep An Eye Out For Greener Grass

This does not mean to be envious of your neighbors like the old tale talks about. However, you are going to want to look for grass on your property that is literally greener than all of the other grass. The reason it might be greener is because it is suddenly receiving an extra amount of fertilizer from your broken sewage line. Therefore, should you spot grass that is either extra green or extra tall as though it is growing faster than the surrounding grass, you need to call for sewage repair help.

With these tips in mind, you should have no problem making sure that you are able to spot a sewage leak on your property. Once you have spotted trouble, just make sure that you are having it corrected as soon as possible.
